Vitl App Unveils New GLP-1 Nutrition Support for Smarter, Healthier Results

New Vitl App update targets rising nutritional gaps among GLP-1 users

Personalised nutrition guru, Vitl, is leaning into the GLP-1 boom with its latest launch.

Mounjaro, Ozempic and similar drugs have soared in popularity as tools to achieve rapid weight loss.

The drugs, which work by suppressing appetite and increasing feelings of fullness, were recently backed by the World Health Organization for their ability to help tackle global obesity.

An estimated 1.5 million people are currently using GLP-1s in the UK, be it via injection or patches. Of those, 95% are thought to be accessing the medication privately.

However, concerns have been raised over the get-slim-quick schemes. Trimmed-down portions mean users could be passing up key nutrients, instead filling their smaller plates with foods that aren’t what their bodies crave.

That blind spot is precisely what the Vitl App is looking to remedy with its latest feature: targeted diet support for GLP-1 users.

“Introducing GLP-1 Nutrition Support in the Vitl app,” an announcement read.

“GLP-1 users face a critical challenge: reduced appetite means they can only consume half their normal food intake, yet only 43% meet protein targets and fibre intake often falls short.

“The cost? Up to 40% of weight lost is lean muscle, and 22% develop nutritional deficiencies within a year.

“Vitl now offers tailored support for GLP-1 users.”

Leveraging AI, the Vitl App’s Calorie Tracker will now ask users a set of key questions, including their desired rate of weight loss and whether they’re currently taking GLP-1 medication.

It’ll then calculate personalised daily macro targets, with particular emphasis on protein and fibre.

AI-powered meal scanning allows the user to log meals in seconds, tracking what’s left of their allowance to boost effectiveness and prevent deficiencies.

The concept of food-tracking apps is far from a new one, though this represents a major shift in where nutrition tech is heading as GLP-1 drugs reshape consumer habits.

“When every bite counts, proper protein and fibre intake is essential for sustainable weight loss and muscle preservation,” Vitl concluded.

The Vitl App can be downloaded through the App Store. The brand also offers DNA and blood tests for bespoke vitamin supplementation directly through its website.
