Gymshark Founder and CEO Ben Francis has announced he will be swapping his running shoes for hiking boots and taking on the Three Peaks Challenge.
This month, the 31-year-old, accompanied by a small team, will be putting himself through the gruelling 23-mile climb in aid of the Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust.
The National Three Peaks Challenge involves climbing the three highest peaks of Scotland, England, and Wales, often within 24 hours. The total ascent is a leg-shaking 3,064 meters or 10,052 feet.
Francis recently visited the Birmingham Women’s and Children’s NHS Foundation Trust, where he gave out gifts and witnessed some of the ‘life-changing’ work staff carry out first-hand.
He said: “I’m really, really excited to be doing this with some amazing people, not only from Gymshark, but some other companies as well.
“This is a worthy cause. It’s something that’s really important to me, and raising funds for the Birmingham Women’s and Children’s Hospital Charity really does make the difference to people’s and particularly young people and children’s lives.”
Francis is already well underway with his training, having recently hiked up the Malvern Hills. So far, he has raised £149 of his total £2,500 target.
However, the young entrepreneur has promised to add £20,000 to the donation total on behalf of Gymshark.
