Liquid Death Sparkling Energy to Debut in 2026 with ‘Unextreme’ Formula

How Liquid Death Sparkling Energy Plans to Stand Out in a Crowded Market

Liquid Death has announced it’s moving into the energy drinks aisle in 2026.

Though despite its metal-heavy aesthetic and lethal name, the upcoming cans will be a far cry from mortal fuel.

Liquid Death has always been something of a misnomer. The brand shot to popularity selling water in beer cans clad with dripping skulls.

The fatal element comes from Liquid Death’s promise to “murder your thirst” — plus some off-the-wall marketing tactics.

Liquid Death Sparkling Energy has been billed as an “unextreme” option more aligned with a cup of coffee than a scoop of pre-workout.

“I’ve been asked about going into energy for years,” wrote founder and CEO Mike Cessario in an announcement.

“Energy drinks are the #1 item purchased with Liquid Death in a basket. But we needed to find a way to do a truly better-for-you option that was more nutritionally similar to cup cup of coffee.

“And not an extreme caffeine, extreme sugar energy drink, or even one with an ingredients panel that reads like a chemistry experiment.”

Liquid Death Sparkling Energy: Dialed-Back Buzz

Liquid Death Sparkling Energy will be introduced to the world in January 2026. The 12oz slimline cans promise 100mg of natural caffeine sourced from coffee beans — roughly half that of competitors like Celsius, GHOST, and PRIME.

Cessario says he’s also partnered with Dr. Darshan Shah MD — a specialist in longevity and wellness — to pad out the rest of the formula.

Vitamins B and C are combined with Magnesium and L-Theanine — an amino acid — for added function, while sugar, artificial colors, dyes, and sweeteners like sucralose and aspartame have been left out.

“The team did a great job on this and I’m very excited for our first true new RTD category launch in over 3 years,” Cessario added.

Liquid Death has seen somewhat of a second wind in recent times, largely thanks to TikTok’s rise to prominence.

Last year, the company was valued at $1.4 billion after securing $67 million in its most recent financing round.

Though canned water is the brand’s staple, it’s also strayed into soda-flavored beverages and a vitamin-boosted iced tea.

Much like Liquid Death, the energy drinks sector has enjoyed its own boom, with a particular focus on functional caffeine.

Cessario is confident a tempered approach — coupled with Liquid Death’s unique branding — will see this new offering find space among the competition.

Liquid Death Sparkling Energy is expected to retail between $2.59 to $3, according to the Wall Street Journal.

Four on-brand flavors have been teased so far: Tropical Terror, Scary Strawberry, Orange Horror, and Murder Mystery.

A comedy-first campaign is planned for launch, with Dr. Shah expected to feature. Tony Hawk, Ozzy Osbourne, and Kylie Kelce have all starred in recent skits.
