My Honest Review of Neutonic’s Focus Pouches

Can Neutonic’s Focus Pouches Really Help You Lock In? We Put Them to the Test

I’m not proud to admit it, but I’m quite partial to a nicotine pouch.

Like many others, I got a little too carried away with the odd upper decky and, before I knew it, I was regularly making trips to my local petrol station to stock up.

It was only when the pockets in my car door started looking like a graveyard for circular tubs that I realised I might have a problem.

The real stupidity is that I wasn’t even previously a smoker or hooked on nicotine in any shape or form.

A friend introduced me to pouches after a gym session, waxing lyrical about how they helped him focus. Curious to experience the same effect, I soon started popping one in at regular intervals throughout the working day.

I have no doubt that’s a slippery slope plenty of others have slid down too.

So when Neutonic — an actual focus brand — released actual Focus Pouches, I knew instantly that I had to get my hands on a stash.

Thankfully, I managed to secure a sleeve of tubs before they sold out. For those who weren’t so lucky, I thought the least I could do was share my honest thoughts.

With that in mind, here’s my full review of Neutonic’s Focus Pouches.

Introducing Neutonic’s Focus Pouches

If Neutonic and Focus Pouches are both sounding like alien concepts, allow me to bring you up to speed. Neutonic was founded by internet stars Chris Williamson and James Smith in late 2023, alongside Luke Betts and Shan Hanif.

Its debut Productivity beverage broke new ground in the energy drink market with a nootropics-boosted formula designed to support your brain and body in tandem.

With more people wrestling with daily distractions than ever, the mission was to provide a tonic that helps you show up, lock in and start hammering through that to-do list.

The Productivity Drink proved a huge hit, and Neutonic soon expanded into other formats with the likes of Brain Capsules, Creatine Sachets and even Nootropics — nootropic-infused toothpicks.

Focus Pouches represent its latest brain-fuelling innovation — and they’re pretty much exactly what you’d expect.

In place of nicotine, you get caffeine, three B vitamins and Cognizin® — a patented form of the nootropic citicoline — in the same lip pillow format.

Reviewing Neutonic’s Focus Pouches

Neutonic’s Focus Pouches are a fairly unique product — and this isn’t my usual kind of review — so I’m going to break things down into three manageable chunks:

  • Formulation
  • Flavour & Performance
  • Value for Money

Let’s get started.

Formulation

The obvious win here is that there’s no nicotine whatsoever. While nicotine can improve certain cognitive functions, it’s also highly addictive (as I’ve discovered) and carries potential health risks.

Basically, there are far better options out there if focus is your goal.

Neutonic’s pouches each pack 50mg of natural caffeine, 25% RI of vitamins B5, B9 and B12, plus 125mg of Cognizin®, which has been shown to support productivity by sustaining focus, attention and memory.

The serving size is set at four pouches staggered throughout the day, meaning you can essentially quadruple those quantities for the full dose.

It’s not the full nootropics panel fans will recognise from the brand’s Productivity Drink, but comparing a small pouch to an entire can is, as they say, like apples and oranges.

Across the full serving, there’s more than enough to help you knuckle down, which is ultimately the main goal.

Flavour & Performance

Neutonic’s Focus Pouches come in a Fresh Mint flavour, mirroring what you’d typically expect from a nicotine equivalent.

I have to admit, the taste is genuinely enjoyable. I’d place it closer to spearmint than harsher ‘Cool Mint’ varieties, as it’s got a nice touch of sweetness without becoming overly cloying.

For the uninitiated, you use the pouches in the same way you would a nicotine pouch — by placing them between your lip and gum and leaving them there for around 15–30 minutes.

Again, the sensation was far less aggressive than a nicotine pouch, with no discernible tingling or burning.

But the real question everybody wants answered is: did they do the trick? I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t mightily impressed.

Spreading the pouches across a full working day, I experienced a really clean lift and, most crucially, the focus I craved.

The caffeine seemed to hit quicker than any energy drink, most likely because it absorbs faster through the gum, yet it didn’t leave me high and dry after an hour or so.

I guess the combination of Cognizin®, B vitamins and spacing the serving throughout the day helps flatten out the rollercoaster and keep you topped up.

In my personal experience, I’ve found them to be a great way of phasing out nicotine pouches.

Brain fog and general mental slumps were among my main apprehensions about kicking nicotine in the first place, so Neutonic’s Focus Pouches represent a clever workaround — in every sense of the word.

As someone who’s grown used to having a pouch wedged between my lip and gum, even the psychology of firing one in told my brain it was time to get to work.

And if you’ve made better life choices than me and are simply looking for a mental boost, I’d still definitely say they’re worth a shot.

Neutonic designed this product to fuel performance in any setting, which is a major part of the appeal.

You can use the Focus Pouches discreetly in just about any setting — planes, trains, meetings, study sessions, you name it — providing a super convenient back-up to cans.

And once you’re done, there’s a separate compartment on top for easy disposal.

Value for Money

At £26.99 for five packs of 20 pouches, Neutonic’s take on lip pillows is surprisingly good value. It’s a fairly novel concept, and there aren’t too many similar products currently on the market.

Chris Bumstead’s RAW Nutrition is the only other big-name competitor that I’ve seen enter the space.

In theory, Neutonic could have sold them at a hefty premium — especially considering the inclusion of Cognizin®.

But at roughly £5.40 per pack, each containing five servings, there’s not much to complain about.

Overall, I’d say Focus Pouches mark another strong addition to Neutonic’s line-up, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see them sell out just as quickly when the next batch arrives. I’ll certainly be among the people vying for a restock.

If you want to sample the pouches — or indeed any of the brand’s growing range — head over to Neutonic’s website.
