Tempeh aficionado Tiba Tempeh is expanding its range with high-fibre Protein Bites.
The better-for-you snacks come in two flavours – Roasted and Southern Style – and are due to hit shelves on 6 May.
Two size options will be available to protein-hungry shoppers: a 45g food-to-go bag and a 60g grab-and-go bag, with the latter already lined up to debut at Sainsbury’s, Waitrose and Ocado.
More Than Just Protein Bites
“Our mission has always been simple: to help people eat better,” said Tiba Tempeh co-founder Ross Longton.
“And snacking is where that’s hardest. Too many on-the-go options are ultra-processed, full of artificial ingredients and short on real nutrition.
“People have been wanting better for years. So we created it.”
Made from whole-bean tempeh – a blend of soya beans, live culture and water – Protein Bites pack an impressive 20g of protein per 100g, comparable to chicken.
However, Longton says the plant-based morsels are also high in gut-friendly fibre, low in saturated fat and made from 100% natural ingredients.
In that sense, he’s calling the soon-to-drop Protein Bites a UK-first. Expected to retail at £1.30 and £1.50 respectively, Tiba Tempeh’s latest innovation isn’t just for those who forgo meat.
The brand is opening the launch up to busy professionals, fitness enthusiasts, families and “anyone wanting a nutrient-dense snack without the empty calories, that actually tastes great.”
