UK Gyms Excluded In Government £1bn Omicron Business Support Plan

Owning a gym over the past 2 years has been one of the worst businesses to be part of. Last minute closures, full lockdowns, limited support and now being left out of the Government £1bn support package which would see small businesses get up to £6,000 grants to help with sick pay and rebates.

Gyms offer it’s members a place to get healthy and to build strong bodies and immune systems to help fight viruses and also has been proven to help with mental health so why are gyms being treated like this?

Throughout the entire pandemic we have yet to hear the government or health advisors push people into gyms or give guidance on how to build strong immune systems. We have, however, heard of boosters, vaccines and other ways to help prevent the spread of Covid.

Many gym owners including Frame called for the reintroduction of furlough payments and urgent financial support and a reduction of VAT to help them stay open and to help the 2022 new health kick which many of us will be on.
