GymNation has launched the first-ever muscle thobe and ghutra collection, giving fitness enthusiasts a way to align their culture and their gym wardrobe.
The range is launching in Saudi Arabia initially, with plans to expand into kanduras and other traditional clothing garments across the wider Gulf.
What is the Muscle Thobe?
The Muscle Thobe is built as a premium pre- and post-workout piece, made from four-way stretch performance fabric with moisture-wicking technology.
It’s not designed to be worn during a workout itself, but rather before and after: whether that be travelling to the gym or socialising with friends post-session. It’s made to be comfortable and stylish while still keeping the tailoring and cultural significance of a traditional thobe.

Alongside the thobe, the group is releasing the GymNation Ghutra, which keeps the familiar silhouette and drape of the classic Saudi headdress. The Ghutra will be finished in GymNation’s own colour palette, and available to purchase individually or as a set with the Muscle Thobe.
Made with the GymNation Community in Mind
The idea for the collection came directly from GymNation’s members, many of whom said they wanted something that reflected both their fitness and cultural identities. The brand worked closely with cultural advisors throughout development to make sure the design stayed respectful to the heritage of both garments.
Rory McEntee, Chief Marketing Officer at GymNation, said: “Over the years we’ve seen a new generation become increasingly passionate about fitness, performance and personal wellbeing, while remaining deeply connected to their culture and traditions.
“We wanted to combine gym community and local culture in a way that felt authentic and respectful. We’ve spoken to members, researched the idea extensively and worked closely with advisors to get it right.”
