HYROX Abu Dhabi will remain part of the 2026/27 global race calendar, despite ongoing conflict in the Middle East.
However, organisers say they’ll continue to monitor the situation closely over the coming months.
“HYROX remains committed to delivering world class events for athletes around the world, and we are excited to include Abu Dhabi in the upcoming 26/27 season calendar,” it wrote in an official statement.
“We recognise that the situation in the wider region continues to evolve, and the safety and wellbeing of our athletes, spectators, partners, and staff will always remain our highest priority.”
According to the UAE’s Ministry of Defence, Iran has fired more than 2,000 missiles and drones at the country since the war began on February 28.
As of today (March 23), the UAE’s air defences are still responding to incoming attacks.
The bombings have caused severe disruption across several Gulf states and, while commercial flights are now starting to resume, warnings are still in place against non-essential travel.
HYROX says it is “closely monitoring” developments and remains in ongoing dialogue with local partners and relevant authorities.
“Registration for the Abu Dhabi race will open as planned, allowing athletes to secure their race spot while we continue to monitor the situation in the lead-up to the event,” it added.
“Should circumstances change and impact the event, HYROX will communicate promptly with participants and any cancellations would be fully reimbursed.

“We look forward to welcoming athletes to Abu Dhabi and will continue to provide updates as needed.”
This signals good news for functional fitness racing fans in the region, who might have otherwise been forced to travel further afield to compete.
HYROX touched down in the UAE’s capital for the first time last year, putting on a sold-out event that went down as one for the history books.
The fast-growing format has found huge favour across the globe in recent years, with the Middle East no exception.
Dubai, in particular, has embraced HYROX with open arms. The fitness competition is up there with padel and pilates as one of the city’s hottest trends, with gyms and studios practically racing to secure status as official HYROX Training Clubs.
When is HYROX Abu Dhabi?
A firm date and location for HYROX Abu Dhabi has yet to be announced. However, it’s sandwiched between events in July on the competition’s website.
Last year, HYROX Abu Dhabi was held at the iconic ADNEC Centre on Friday, July 19, so a similar date looks more than likely.
Whether it’ll be a one or two-day event remains to be seen. Head to HYROX’s website to secure your spot once registration opens.
