Melonade Duos and Watermelon Bites Join the Lineup as Epic New Sour Strips Flavors
Summer just got a whole lot sweeter thanks to Maxx Chewning and the good people at Sour Strips Candy.
On Monday, the super-sour brand unleashed its two newest varieties — and they’re practically a vacation in a bag.
Melonade Duos and Watermelon Bites will be dropping in a matter of days. Be warned: they’re both limited-edition and made to sell out — fast.
Here’s what you need to know.
Two New Sour Strips Flavors. One Launch Date.
Sour Strips will be releasing its new sunshine-adjacent creations into the wild at 12pm EST on Friday, June 20.
Since they’re limited-edition, both will only be available directly through the Sour Strips website. There’s no retail option here, so don’t go hunting in your local stores.

Melonade is a fusion of two fan-favorite Sour Strips flavors — Pink Lemonade and Watermelon — doubled up and coming in hot in the classic strips form.
Watermelon Bites pack the same face-screwing taste as the strips, just in the new bite-sized format.
It joins Rainbow and Strawbango in that category, bringing the total lineup of Bites varieties to three.
Does Maxx Chewning Still Own Sour Strips?
High-energy American influencer Maxx Chewning founded Sour Strips in 2019 as an ode to proper sour candy that, in his words, “doesn’t suck.”
The response was immense — Maxx sold 20,000 units within the first hour of launch. He continued to scale at breakneck pace, turning Sour Strips into a household name in America.
His success caught the eye of confectionery giant Hershey’s (yes, that one), who bought the business late last year.

At the time of the acquisition, Maxx described the deal as a “life-changing amount of money” but remained tight-lipped about the exact figure.
However, thanks to Hershey’s 2024 annual report, we now know the number — $75.5 million.
Despite the acquisition, Maxx remains onboard in a creative capacity, still leading the direction of Sour Strips as it looks to disrupt the current candy staples.
He appeared in the promo for both of these new Sour Strips flavors and no doubt had a big say in bringing them to life.
