Reviewing Earthnutz: The Ingenious Peanut Protein Crisps

There’s nothing quite like the crunch of a good crisp. I don’t know what it is, but there’s just something so moreish and comforting about dipping your hand into a share bag and grabbing a big handful.

But whereas crisps used to be an everyday lunchbox staple growing up, in adulthood they tend to become a once-in-a-while indulgence, especially if you’re mindful of what you eat.

As someone who trains regularly and tends to lean more savoury than sweet, I’m always on the lookout for a healthier workaround.

Typically, that means some form of lentil chip or high-protein alternative.

But the subject of today’s review is something completely new to me: peanut protein crisps. That innovation comes courtesy of Earthnutz, a family-run challenger brand reinventing the humble peanut from pub snack to functional, protein-packed treat.

Promising clean ingredients, serious crunch, plenty of protein, and an unparalleled nutrient-dense snack, I picked up a few tubs and put them to the test.

With that in mind, here’s my honest Earthnutz review, covering everything from taste to macros.

Introducing Earthnutz

Earthnutz is the brainchild of Abby Singh, whose story began when her son had an allergic reaction to peanuts.

While they were told to stay away from all nuts (forever), Abby couldn’t help but crave peanut butter lathered onto a fresh slice of sourdough.

Eventually, she found a hospital-led treatment programme that would help her son to eat peanuts again, yet found he was sceptical following years of avoidance.

Her quest to reintroduce peanuts in a fun, convenient, and healthy way laid the foundations for Earthnutz. What started as a personal journey soon snowballed into something bigger.

With the healthy snacking market beginning to rocket and consumers seeking more nutrition from every bite, Abby saw a gap in the market.

Not for flavoured or coated nuts, but for a high-protein, high-fibre, nutrient-dense take that mimics the crisps we know and love, minus the guilt.

Earthnutz come in three flavours, all crafted from natural ingredients and returning up to 16g of protein per tub.

Carefully crafted in the heart of the British countryside, they pledge to outgun any other crisps in taste, texture, sustainability, and processing – which is kept to an absolute minimum.

Do they pull it off? Let’s take a closer look.

My Honest Earthnutz Review

As I do with all my reviews, I’ll be breaking this one down into a few bite-sized chunks:

  • Ingredients
  • Macros
  • Taste and Texture
  • Value for Money

Without further ado, let’s dive right in.

Ingredients

One glance at the back of an Earthnutz tub and it’s immediately obvious what the brand is trying to achieve.

Rather than hiding behind a lengthy ingredients list filled with artificial flavourings and preservatives, each variety keeps things refreshingly simple.

Salt & Pepper combines peanuts, chia seeds, nutritional yeast, salt and pepper.

Sweet Chilli builds on a peanut base with chia seeds, sugar, potato starch, onion, fennel, garlic, ginger, mango and spices.

Wasabi rounds things off with peanuts, chia seeds, nutritional yeast, horseradish, wasabi japonica, mustard, spirulina powder and salt.

Every ingredient is recognisable, and that’s something I really appreciate.

The additions of chia seeds and nutritional yeast don’t just contribute flavour either. They also bump up the fibre, healthy fats and micronutrient profile, making each serving far more substantial than your average bag of crisps.

There’s no unnecessary filler here, just a handful of quality ingredients working together. From a label perspective, I genuinely have no complaints.

Macros

Earthnutz claims to be an unparalleled nutrient-dense snack, and after looking through the nutritional information, it’s hard to argue otherwise.

Taking the Wasabi flavour as an example, each 32g tub delivers 16g of protein, just 5g of carbohydrates, 3g of sugar, 6g of fibre and only 150 calories.

That’s already an impressive set of macros for something that satisfies a crisp craving, but the story goes much deeper.

Thanks to its natural ingredients and minimal processing, every serving also provides generous amounts of vitamin B12, vitamin B6, magnesium, folate, potassium, zinc, iron and more.

Compared with traditional crisps or even many protein bars, Earthnutz feels like a much more nutritionally complete snack.

Whether you’re following a vegan or keto diet, trying to increase your protein intake or simply looking for something genuinely nourishing between meals, these make a compelling case.

It’s a mightily impressive nutritional profile, achieved largely through the humble peanut and a few clever additions.

Taste and Texture

Earthnutz arrives in small cylindrical tubs that instantly reminded me of a miniature packet of Pringles, making them ideal for throwing into a gym bag or keeping in the car.

All three flavours are deliciously savoury, but the standout for me was undoubtedly Wasabi.

Because it’s naturally flavoured, you get that familiar warming sensation creeping up your nostrils without the harsh chemical burn that often comes with artificial wasabi flavouring. It’s subtle, balanced and incredibly moreish.

The same goes for the other varieties. None of them are overpowering, yet every handful leaves you reaching back for another.

Texturally, Earthnutz are intriguing. Each crisp is shaped like a peanut shell with a hollow centre, creating a satisfying double crunch that sits somewhere between a puffed snack and a popped crisp.

They’re not crisps in the traditional sense, but they absolutely scratch the same itch while providing a much less stodgy alternative to peanut butter.

In fact, I polished off every last morsel from my delivery and even found myself reaching for a tub as a post-workout snack in the car.

Crunchy, energising and genuinely wholesome, they’re a welcome addition to my snack rotation.

Value for Money

Earthnutz are available directly from the brand’s website, where a box of 12 tubs costs £22.99.

That works out at less than £2 per pot, which I think represents excellent value.

Nuts aren’t cheap, and neither are high-protein snacks. Here, you’re getting both in a convenient grab-and-go format, backed up by a strong dose of fibre and vitamins and minerals.

Whether you’re looking for a healthier lunchbox addition, a post-gym snack or something to keep you going through the afternoon slump, Earthnutz ticks every box.

Do they represent good value for money? Absolutely. Would I buy them again? Without hesitation.

If you’re after a savoury, protein-loaded snack that doesn’t feel like a compromise, Earthnutz is well worth adding to your shopping list.
