Inside Grenade Founder Alan Barratt’s Insane Home Gym

Get a behind the scenes look at Grenade founder Al Barratt’s bonkers home gym.

Hidden away in the Cornish countryside is a gym that makes most commercial spots look basic. But unfortunately for us, it’s not one we’ll ever be able to head to for a workout. It’s the home gym of Grenade founder Alan Barratt, and it’s stacked with everything you’d want for serious training.

Think huge space, rare kit and a few extras that only someone at the top of their game could pull off. The place mixes cutting edge equipment with fun details, so it feels like a giant playground for anyone who loves to train.

If you’re into lifting, conditioning or just geeking out over clever gym gadgets, get ready to go green with envy when you see what Barratt’s put together.

Meet the Grenade founder

Alan Barratt is the Grenade founder who turned a small UK start-up into a global sports nutrition brand worth hundreds of millions. Back in the early days he and his business partner launched Grenade with a single product and a bold plan to shake up the market.

Then what started as a niche sports supplement brand quickly exploded into a household name sold in more than 80 countries.

The Grenade founder has always had a taste for adventure and hard work. He’s a qualified pilot who’ll happily fly himself to meetings, and he’s known for pushing boundaries in business and fitness alike.

And whether he’s travelling for work or spending time in Cornwall, Alan keeps fitness as a non-negotiable part of his routine.

For someone with that mindset, a high-spec personal gym is the perfect way to make sure nothing gets in the way of a good session.

From photos to a full reveal

Alan dropped the first sneak peek of his home gym a while back when he shared photos of the space on Instagram. In the caption he thanked “those legends Matt and Josh at @fitnessbricks for all their help,” and joked that getting equipment from around the world “hasn’t been easy” before adding, “I should be the fittest person in Britain by the weekend.”

That was enough to get people talking, but the real eye opener came when Matt Bridgeman posted a full video tour. That clip showed just how over the top the Grenade founder went with this build.

Matt’s walkthrough shows the gym is part of a full man cave with a helipad, art, cars, a hot tub and a sauna. Inside, the gear list is wild. There’s rare Cybex equipment that’s been out of production for about 15 years, plus machines like a leg curl and a tricep dip station.

For conditioning, you can see a track and sled, a StairMaster, a rope puller and battle ropes. Strength fans will notice a cable stack, a tyre flip setup and an inversion table. Matt even points out some clever extras: a bench with a lever that drops the wheels so it’s easy to move, hooks that let you rack dumbbells on a bar, and attachments that strap weights straight to your feet.

The dumbbells themselves are next level, with a smart design that lets them switch into a barbell or kettlebell.

Add in pinball machines and classic cars around the place and you can tell why this gym gets people hyped.

Why it works for the Grenade founder

This whole setup is exactly what you’d expect from Alan Barratt. The Grenade founder loves performance and cool design, so he worked with Matt and Josh from Fitness Bricks to source rare gear from all over and build something unique.

It’s private, loaded with toys and ready for any kind of session he feels like, any time of day.

Final thoughts

This place is basically every lifter’s dream. You’ve got rare Cybex machines, clever gadgets you’ve probably never seen before, a sled track for brutal conditioning and a setup that’s as slick as any high-end commercial gym.

Then you step back and realise it’s surrounded by pinball machines, classic cars, a sauna, a hot tub and even a helipad.

It’s the ultimate mash-up of serious training space and pure fun, the kind of gym where you could spend hours lifting, playing and still find something new to try every time you walk in.

So the only question is, when can we stop by for a visit?!
